Today is Monday and like every Monday for the past 8 months I find myself at work… of course like many of you reading. [Okay, if you’re a student, then you’re possibly at school… don’t get so technical with me… sheesh!] Most working people dread Monday’s but there is something about Mondays I like. I know its “strange”, but we all have those “simple strange” characteristics about us that make us all different. So back to work on Monday… I’m waiting for my students to come in for my first class to begin the day. The students finally arrive, chipper and all giddy for some unknown reason. I’d like to think it was because I was such a wonderful teacher, but I won’t lie to myself or even try to convince myself that’s what it was. So we begin “English class” and right in the middle of class EVERY student burst out into these English songs… none missing a lyric or keeping quiet. They just continue singing like that’s what they were instructed to do. I’m shocked and I have no clue what to do, so I sit back and let them sing their hearts out… I mean gee, its English, aye? They finish the song and just look at me. Well, the “go with the flow” person I am, start right back teaching where I had left off and pretended like nothing ever happened. About 5-7 minutes later, they all start right back to singing… all together and perfectly timed. It was ahhhmazing! By this time, I’m starting to think, “Okay, its all planned and they are waiting to see my reaction.” My reaction was to simply to sit back and enjoy “the English”… and thus is exactly what I did. They weren’t going to get a hysterical reaction out of me. I loved it. Once again, when they finished I started back with the lesson. This went on for about 4-5 times. It was great… it totally made my day… my Monday at that! After I dismissed the class, I thought to myself, I wish I’d have thought of something like that to do in my Spanish classes in high school. Oh, it would have been so much fun. I doubt I could have got all the students to participate though…
